Bring your medications, sharps, and liquid prescriptions to safely dispose of them. Sharps must be placed in a proper sharps container or a sturdy plastic bottle with a secure lid for safety.

Lenawee County Veterans Affairs is pleased to share an upcoming opportunity for local veterans, service members, and their families to enjoy a fun and free community event this spring.

The Lenawee Veterans Coalition is hosting Stars & Strikes Bowling, a special event created to bring veterans and military families together for connection, recreation, and community.

This event is completely free for veterans, active service members, and their families. However, participation is limited to the first 50 registered attendees, so early registration is encouraged.

Residents are invited to roll up their sleeves and make a lifesaving difference at an upcoming community blood drive hosted by Michigan State University Extension. The drive will take place Monday, April 6, from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM in the River Raisin Room at the Lenawee County Human Services Building.

This event is held in partnership with the American Red Cross, whose mission relies on generous donors to ensure hospitals have the blood supply needed for surgeries, emergencies, cancer treatments, and chronic illnesses. Just one donation can help multiple patients, making each appointment a powerful act of community care.

Appointments are encouraged to help manage donor flow and reduce wait times. To schedule a time, visit redcrossblood.org or call 1-800-RED CROSS (1-800-733-2767). Walk-ins may be accepted as space allows.

Donors should remember to bring a photo ID, stay hydrated, and eat a healthy meal before donating. Whether you are a first-time donor or a regular participant, your contribution plays a vital role in supporting patients in need.

Lenawee County is a proud participant in the annual E-race Stigma 5K!  This year's event will be held on Sunday, May 17th in downtown Adrian, starting at the Farmer's Market. All proceeds support health education programs in Lenawee County. The goal of the event is to increase the awareness of mental health issues with a focus on overall health and wellness; mind, body, and spirit. 

Pricing: $15.00 for 5k participants, $5.00 kids dash. $20 on race day - CASH ONLY.

Residents of Jackson, Lenawee, and Hillsdale counties with household income up to $69,000 in 2025 can get their tax returns prepared FREE through the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program at Community Action Agency.

Automated appointment scheduling for Tax Year 2025 will open January 26, 2026, and there is an option to leave a message for callback, if necessary. Appointment times fill up quickly, but CAA will continue to add additional appointment times throughout the tax season based on volunteer availability.

New in 2026! If you don't want to wait for an appointment and are comfortable uploading your documents yourself, you can go to www.GetMyRefund.org/CAAJLH and submit all of your documents online. The VITA volunteers will still prepare your tax return at no cost to you and notify you when your tax return is ready to be filed.
