The Lenawee County Health Department is pleased to announce that Martha Hall has been chosen to receive the Jean Chabut Health Policy Champion award for 2022.
The Jean Chabut Health Policy Champion award is a major part of the annual Public Health Week observance in Michigan. This award is presented to individuals and/or organizations that have made significant contributions toward the health and well-being of Michigan citizens in the policy area at the local and/or state level.
Public Health Week in Michigan is celebrated alongside National Public Health Week, which is an initiative of the American Public Health Association. This year’s theme, “Public Health is where you are” provides us with a chance to highlight how the public health system keeps our communities healthy and safe as technologies advance, public attitudes towards health shift, and more health and safety options become available.
“We are so pleased that Martha has received this award,” stated Kasee Johnson, Environmental Health Director for the health department. “Martha has remained steadfast in her dedication to upholding the mission of promoting a safe and healthy environment for the residents of Lenawee County. She is a compassionate and tireless public health leader who has devoted countless hours to understanding and addressing the needs of the community. She navigated the pandemic with grace and professionalism, providing guidance and education to the community. We are a healthier and safer community because of her guidance.”
Martha announced her retirement earlier this month. March 31 is her last day.
