Residents of Jackson, Lenawee, and Hillsdale counties with household income up to $69,000 in 2025 can get their tax returns prepared FREE through the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program at Community Action Agency.

Automated appointment scheduling for Tax Year 2025 will open January 26, 2026, and there is an option to leave a message for callback, if necessary. Appointment times fill up quickly, but CAA will continue to add additional appointment times throughout the tax season based on volunteer availability.

New in 2026! If you don't want to wait for an appointment and are comfortable uploading your documents yourself, you can go to www.GetMyRefund.org/CAAJLH and submit all of your documents online. The VITA volunteers will still prepare your tax return at no cost to you and notify you when your tax return is ready to be filed.
