The Explorers Program is for any student between the ages of 14 - 20 years old, who is interested in a career in Law Enforcement. There is an average of 15 students in the Program each year.
Members have the advantage of learning many aspects of Law Enforcement from instructors who are experts in fields from the Detective Bureau, Accident Investigations, Road Patrol, Dispatch Center, Drug Law Enforcement, Corrections, the Federal Marshalls and many more. There is also a Ride Along program that is available for older members. Many of the students who were in the Program but who are not eligible due to age requirements were able to move up to the Sheriff's Office Reserve Deputy Program.
Classes are held about once a month on Saturday mornings so it doesn't interfere with most students busy school activities. Explorers have the opportunity to assist in local events such as festivals, parades and the Lenawee County Fair.
If you are interested in more information about the Explorer Program or to obtain an application to join, contact Sergeant Alex Perdue at 517-263-0524 ext. 2115 or by email.
