Reserve Division

The Lenawee County Sheriff's Office has a very active Reserve Division.  At any given time, we have between 17 and 25 active Reserve Deputies.  Our Reserves assists the Sheriff's Office in numerous events throughout the year, most on a volunteer basis, though some are paying events.  The events include but are not limited to: Michigan International Speedway, Faster Horses Concerts, Lenawee County Fair, Blissfield River Raisin Festrival, Clinton Fall Festival and Relay for Life.

Our Reserves go through an in-house Reserve Training Program that includes firearms training, law enforcement, Michigan Law,CPR/First Aid and Defensive Tactics.  That training usually runs about 10 weeks and is only offered when our Reserve numbers dip into the mid teens which is maybe every 4 or 5 years.  In addition, our Reserve Deputies are rquired to ride with the Road Patrol 8 hours a month.

We are proud to say that our Reserve Deputies represent the Office of the Sheriff very well.  Without them , we would not be able to have as strong a presence at many of the functions that are held in the County every year.

Anyone with questions about the Reserve Program or who have an interest in becoming a Reserve Deputy can contact Sergeant Chris VanDyke at 517-263-0524 x2112.
