Private On-Site Water Supply Program
Permits are issued for construction of new and replacement wells serving single-family homes. These permits are required prior to construction. Evaluations of well drilling sites are performed by health department staff prior to issuance of construction permits to ensure that wells are constructed in areas free of known groundwater contamination. Water sample bottles are available to test water supplies for bacterial or chemical contamination.
Public On-Site Water Supply Program
Permits are issued for construction of new or replacement wells serving establishments such as schools, offices, restaurants, and campgrounds which provide water to not less than 25 individuals at least 60 days per year. Evaluations of well drilling sites are performed by health department staff prior to issuance of construction permits to ensure wells are free of known groundwater contamination. Subdivisions proposed for development with well water supply are reviewed by the health department before approvals are granted. Water sample bottles are available to test water supplies for bacterial and chemical contamination.
