RESERVES DIVISION REPORT
2008
SUBMITTED BY SERGEANT DAVID AUNGST
NEWS AND HAPPENINGS OF OUR RESERVES
We received 3 resignations in 2008. The first came from Ralph Morgan. He resigned due to lack of time to give to the Reserve Division. Ralph had served as Sergeant until February 2008. The second resignation came from Randy Escott. Randy left us to become a full-time Police Officer for Raisin Twp. PD. Our third resignation came from Laura Jean Howatt. Jean ran out of time in her busy schedule to proceed with the Reserves. I thank all of these individuals for their time given and all three leave on good terms.
Gary Pixley went on a leave of absence in July due to his son being involved in a serious car crash which has left him in the hospital for months. He is now recovering in a care home. While on leave, Gary's daughter was involved in a serious car crash totally separate from his son=s. Gary had a rough past 6 months. I talked to him yesterday, and as of January 1st, 2009 he no longer wishes to be on leave and will return back to full status.
Jacob Johnson went on a leave of absence in September due to him going to a full time Police Academy in Flint which caused him to move his residence there temporarily. Jacob completed the Academy in December and should be back to full status as of January 1st, 2009.
John Fleenor was on a leave of absence from January 2008 to June 2008. He came back and worked both races, but has been unable to meet any of the other requirements. Mac Fleenor informed me yesterday that John is giving him all of his equipment to turn in. John will no longer have Reserve Deputy status with us as of January 1st, 2009.
Our current number of active Reserves is 21. Nic Wilson just requested a leave of absence until March 31st, 2009. He is in a Paramedic Class and needs all available free time to meet clinical requirements.
I would also like to recognize the following Reserves for perfect 2008 attendance at our meetings.
Brian Bartush Mackie Fleenor Calvin Irwin Lucas Kennard Ted Smith Randy Swander Nic Wilson
