The Motorcycle Division of the Lenawee County Sheriff's Office provides a wide variety of services besides uniform patrol.  The unit also participates in parades, funerals, charity and special events, the Lenawee County Fair and the Michigan International Speedway detail.  The unit utilizes 8 Harley Davidson Electra Glides which are leased yearly by the Michigan international Speedway, as always their generosity is greatly appreciated.

 This proud tradition began almost 25 years ago and all the Deputies involved have one key ingredient in common:  the love to ride.  All of the Deputies are required to attend a refresher course at the beginning of every season to "knock off the rust" that may have accumulated during the winter and to get used to the features of the new motorcycles.

2008 was another busy year for the unit with 2 significant events.  On Sept 9^, 2008, the traveling Vietnam Wall came into Lenawee County and was escorted by the unit to the Michigan International Speedway for display.  It was truly an honor to take part in this prestigious event that paid tribute to veterans of the Vietnam War.  On July 17, 2008, the Sheriff's Office received a visit from television action Erik Estrada who starred in "Chips."  This was a lot of fun for the motorcycle officers to meet and have their photo taken with the ultimate "motorcycle cop." 

The Motorcycle division hopes to provide safe and effective services to the citizens of Lenawee County for years to come.  The unit has proven that motorcycles do have an In Law Enforcement and in service to the Community.
