SUBMITTED BY DETECTIVE GARY WARD

During the last year the Detective Bureau has had a couple of staff changes.  After serving 39 years, Detective Robert Wolverton retired in June 2008.  Detective Wolverton's position was filled in September 2008 when Dale Sharp was promoted to Detective.   Dale was assigned to the Detective Bureau from the Road Patrol Division where he was a Road Patrol Deputy.

In February 2009 Detective Seeburger retired after 35 years of service.  At this time we hope to have Detective Seeburger's position filled in the fall of 2009.  With the retirement of Detective Wolverton and Seeburger, the Lenawee County Detective Bureau has lost 74 years of training and experience.  Currently the Detective Bureau has 3 plain clothed Detectives that are being trained to fill the experience gaps left by the retirement of Wolverton and Seeburger.

Detective LuAnn Bearden has been involved in bringing to justice several of the County's Criminal Sexual Conduct Cases.

In September 2009, Kevin Greca was promoted to Detective.  Kevin was a Road Patrol Deputy before he was promoted to the Detective Bureau.

The Lenawee County Crime Stoppers program, is a program made up of civilian community leaders and media who raise money that is then paid out for tips that lead to the arrest of the suspect and/or suspects of a crime that is run in the media, as a Crime Stoppers' press release or for the location and arrest of a person on the web site Lenawee's Most Wanted.

The Lenawee County Crime Stoppers' Coordinator is a Detective from the Lenawee County Sheriff's Office Detective Bureau.  Sheriff Welsh, as well as the Crime Stoppers' Board, wants this program to become a pro-active program in the Lenawee County area as it is in other areas that have Crime Stopper Programs.  The Coordinator is currently working with police agencies in Lenawee County, telling them about the Crime Stoppers' Program and how it can help them solve cases.

In 2008, Crime Stoppers released weekly to the media one photo each week from Lenawee's Most Wanted web site.  Crime Stoppers hopes that this made the community aware that law enforcement needs the community's help to apprehend these wanted individuals, and they can receive cash for that help.
