ANNUAL REPORT FOR 2009

The Animal Control Division is staffed by one full-time member and one part-time member. Their main objective is to handle all animal complaints in the County, however, the Road Patrol also handles these complaints when need be. 12.98% of complaints handled by the Lenawee County Sheriff's Office in 2009 were animal related.
In 2009, the Animal Control Division handled the following complaints:
Dog Law Violations: 687
Stock Kills: 6
Dog Bites: 127
Kennel Related: 32
Stray Dogs: 397
Animal Cruelty: 133
Citations: 410
TOTAL: 1,841
There were 677 dogs picked up by the Animal Control Officers. Out of that number, 208 were euthanized, 226 were returned to their owners, 195 were adopted, and 48 were rescued to other shelters.
Dogs are boarded at the Lenawee Humane Society and at Addison Veterniary Clinic. In 2009, Lenawee County paid out $36,207.75 in boarding fees.
