Drinking Water Well - Long Term Monitoring Program:  (517) 264-5202

This program provides for testing of various well water supplies in Lenawee County where chemical contamination of groundwater has been or could be an issue.  The Michigan Department of Environmental Quality (MDEQ) provides a list of facilities approved for testing.  The Lenawee County Health Department (LCHD) and the MDEQ, jointly, develop this list. The frequency of testing and chemical testing requirements vary based on the individual characteristics of selected sites.

A LCHD technician collects the water samples.  Water samples are tested at the MDEQ  Drinking Water Lab.  Laboratory test results are reviewed by a Registered LCHD Sanitarian.  Test results are then mailed to the property owner with a full explanation of the test results.

If a drinking water standard has been exceeded an advisory will be sent to the property owner.  The LCHD will advise property owners on methods for securing safe drinking water supplies.  All documentation is maintained on file with the Lenawee County Health Department.
