
Curtis Parsons Jr.
The Lenawee County Board of Commissioners are pleased to announce the appointment of Curtis Parsons as Emergency Management Coordinator.
Mr. Parsons is a life-long resident of Lenawee County and a graduate of Onsted High School. He was employed for thirty-five years at Wacker Chemical Company where he had been a member of the management team for most of his career. He has studied criminal justice at Northwestern Michigan and Jackson Community College and has earned a Bachelor of Applied Science Degree in public safety studies from Siena Heights University. He is presently completing a Master's Degree in Leadership with a concentration in Emergency Management also at Siena Heights. Curtis is a twenty-five year veteran of the county fire service with fifteen years as a chief officer. He also served the community as a reserve officer with the Cambridge Township Police Department. He volunteered for many years with American Red Cross as a first aid and CPR instructor. Curtis founded the county's critical incident stress management team and is a former member of the technical rescue team. He holds numerous training certificates in areas of hazardous materials, emergency management, and incident command from the FEMA, The National Fire Academy, and Michigan State Police. His professional memberships include; The Michigan Emergency Managers Association, International Association of Fire Marshals, Michigan Fire Inspectors, and the Michigan Chapter of the International Association of Arson Investigators. Mr. Parsons is also a life-time member of the Lenawee County Fire Chief's Association. He holds certifications with the state of Michigan as a Firefighter instructor, EMT-Specialist and Fire Inspector. Curtis and his wife, Gail, make their home in Tecumseh.
He will fulfill the position vacated by Jim Anderson who was appointed Undersheriff by incoming Sheriff Jack Welsh.

The Emergency Management office coordinates planning between law enforcement, fire services, emergency medicals services, health department, hospitals, human services agencies, and others involved in preventing or responding to emergencies and disasters. Lenawee County Emergency Management also serves as a "conduit" for federal grants and information from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and the Federal Department of Homeland Security.
