Curtis Parsons Jr.

Mr. Parsons is a life-long resident of Lenawee County and a graduate of Onsted High School. He has earned a Bachelor of Applied Science Degree in public safety studies and a Master's of Arts Degree with a concentration in Emergency Management from Siena Heights University. He has achieved the designation as a Professional Emergency Manager (PEM) with accreditation through the Michigan State Police. Curtis is a twenty-five year veteran of the county fire service with fifteen of those as a chief officer. He also served the community as a reserve officer with the Cambridge Township Police Department. He volunteered for many years with American Red Cross as a first aid and CPR instructor. Curtis founded the county's critical incident stress management team and is a former member of the county technical rescue team. He currently holds positions on the American Red Cross executive board, the Homeland Security and Local Emergency Planning Committee, Lenawee Medical Control Authority, Lenawee County Fire Chief's Association and the Lenawee County Emergency Health Planning Committee. He also serves on the Region One Homeland Security Board's Executive Committee and is a voting board member of the Homeland Security board. He is active at the federal level as well holding memberships on the Department of Homeland security - State, Local, Tribal, and Territorial Government Coordinating Council (SLTTGCC) as a representative on the Chemical Facility Anti-Terrorism (CFAT) work group, as well as the Dams & levee's sector infrastructure protection. His professional memberships include; The Michigan Emergency Managers Association, International Association of Fire Marshals and Michigan Fire Inspectors society. Mr. Parsons is a life-time member of the Lenawee County Fire Chief's Association. He holds certifications with the State of Michigan as a firefighter instructor and Fire code Inspector. Curtis was appointed as the Emergency Management Coordinator by the Board of Commissioners and began his position on January 19th 2009, taking over from Mr. Jim Anderson who was appointed Under-Sherriff by newly elected Lenawee County Sherriff, Jack welsh.
