The County Clerk's Office oversees all records for births, deaths, marriages, assumed names, Circuit Court records, election information, notaries and concealed pistol license. In addition they take care of the Counties payroll and accounts payable.

Both offices are open from 8:00 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. and close for lunch between 12:00 p.m. and 1:00 p.m.
Forms of payment are cash or check (cash only for court fines)
Circuit Court Clerk's Office is now selling divorce kits. The cost is $35 for a kit with no minor children and $40 for a kit with minor children.

New cases are filed in the order we receive them and it will take approximately 3 to 5 days to process.
We do not accept any pleadings by fax or e-mail.
We require you provide a self addressed, stamped envelope in order for us to return any pleadings.
Pleading deadline - All pleadings must be filed by the Wednesday prior to the following week's hearing date or as otherwise directed by the Judge or court rule MCR 2.119c.
All Court filings must include the case title, file number, title of pleading, and judge's name, see court rule MCR 2.113
Motions or response to motion - A judge's copy is required when filing an original motion, see court rule MCR 2.119(A)(2)
Domestic Filings - A Friend of the Court copy is required with all pleadings that involve minor children or spousal support, see court rule MCR 3.203(G)
Consolidated Court Cases - When cases are consolidated they keep their separate identities and parties to one action do not become parties to the other action. If you consolidate cases and choose to put multiple case header's and case numbers on one pleading this Court does require a copy for each file
Pretrial - When filing a new case with this Court our Judge's require a pretrial be scheduled for the purpose of case flow management, see court rule MCR 2.401
CPL Applicants: You can now purchase a photo for your CPL in our office, the cost is $10. New applicants must complete a N.R.A. approved course, take the original N.R.A. certificate of training and completed application (except for signature) to the County Clerk/Gun Board Office (Old Court House). The fee for new application or renewal is $105 plus $10 for a photo.
Genealogy Research Hours: Tuesday thru Friday, 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 to 3:30 p.m.
Identification Requirements: Photo ID required for Birth Records
Certified Copy/Additional: $16.00/$6.00
Other Copy Fees: $ 1.00 per page (other than Birth, Death, or Marriage records). All mail requests require payment in advance.
Search Fees: $ 10.00 per name. We can not do this over the phone for you or by e-mail. All requests must be submitted in writing with payment before the search will be done. Search fee only covers the search, copy cost is extra.
Comments: Due to limited space and staffing, research is limited to the days and time listed above and to one-half hour increments if others are waiting. Space allows for two genealogists at one time.
Births: 1867 to present. Birth records are available only to the individual named on the birth record (registrant), the parents of the registrant, a legal guardian of the registrant, a legal representative of the registrant or an heir of the registrant. An heir is defined as any relative of a deceased individual. Heirs must supply the date and place of death of the registrant when requesting a copy. This policy is in accordance with MCL 333.2882.

Divorces: 1853 to present. Indexes only are available for the very early years.
