 LENAWEE COUNTY AIRPORT

MANAGERS REPORT

NOVEMBER 2006

I received the Airport license and Managers license from the state last Monday. We are good for another year.

Fred noticed that someone had been dumping woodchips on the pile at the pole barn. I notified the Madison Township Police and the Lenawee County Sheriff office advising them of the situation and that we did not give permission for this activity.

I had a site review with the organization that is looking for a new venue. They seemed quite pleased. I have a call into the insurance company to see if this type of event will be feasible from a financial standpoint.

All airport winter equipment was ready to go on November 29th. We still need to get another load of sand for the runway in a week or two.

We had a pre-bid meeting at the airport for the South Perimeter Fence project. 7 companies attended. The price came in lower than predicted which will save the airport money on the local share.

The GMC pickup truck was repaired at a slightly lower cost than estimated.

Gave a presentation to the Michigan Association of Townships meeting last month. Commissioner Branch and Commissioner Tuckerman were also present.

The plastic pipe and fiber optic line was directional bored from across the street to the basement. It should be operational in approximately 2 weeks. Mead & Hunt has been advised of the cable location so it can be placed on the utility map. The telephone lines and switching unit for the ASOS are also receiving an upgrade through the FAA. This will be completed at about the same time as our new phone system.

Will hopefully begin the insulation of the G-2 hangar ceiling this month; should cost around $500.00 for parts. Will need to rent a lift or scaffolding to complete the project.

There are approximately 20 people on the hangar waiting list.

Continue to update the filing system. Have purchased storage boxes so we can file each year or two separately and maintain current files in the office where we need them.

The Soaring Club had a record amount of tows this year. 2006: Tows = 851,

Hours = 350; 2005: Tows = 538, Hours = 209.18;  2004: Tows = 405,  Hours = 152.

The JCC Christmas Open House has been moved to Spring 2007.
