Educational Background
Mr. Curtis Parsons is a life-long resident of Lenawee County and a graduate of Onsted High School. He earned a Bachelor of Applied Science Degree in public safety studies in 2007 and a Master's of Arts Degree with a concentration in leadership in Emergency Management/Homeland Security from Siena Heights University in 2009.

Professional Experience
He achieved the designation as a Professional Emergency Manager (PEM) with accreditation through the Michigan State Police Homeland Security & Emergency Management Division in 2011. Curtis is a 25 year veteran of the county fire service with 15 of those as a chief officer. He also served the community as a reserve officer with the Cambridge Township Police Department for several years.

He founded the county's critical stress incident management (CSIM) team. He is a former technical rescue team member and SCUBA diver.

Curtis serves as Vice-Chair of the Michigan Region One homeland security planning board. He is also engaged at the national level serving as the chairman of the State, Local, Tribal, and Territorial Government Coordinating Council (SLTTGCC) and liaison to the Chemical Facilities and Dams infrastructure protection sectors. Curtis was appointed as the county Emergency Management Coordinator by the Board of Commissioners and began his position in January 2009.

He was named in the Presidential Book of Who’s Who Among Business and Professional Achievers in 2011. Curtis is the recipient of the life-time membership award from the Lenawee County Fire Chief’s Association and was named the 2015 Professional Emergency Manager of the year by the Michigan State Police.
