Nine New Confirmed Cases of COVID-19 in Lenawee County Reported July 2, 2020

July 2, 2020

Nine new confirmed cases of COVID-19 are being reported today by the Lenawee County Health Department; this one-day total represents the largest single day increase in COVID-19 cases in Lenawee County since our first case on March 24, 2020. Lenawee County has seen an increase in COVID-19 positive cases in the past two weeks, with 12 cases reported last week and 15 new cases so far this week. Many of these new cases are close contacts of a known COVID-19 positive individual.

Additionally, the percentage of positive tests has increased from a 7-day average of 0.8% on June 15, 2020 to 2.9% on June 29, 2020. The Lenawee County Health Department urges residents to practice simple prevention strategies to prevent the spread of COVID-19 in our community;

  • Avoid crowds and gatherings where you are unable to maintain 6 feet of distance from others not of your household. It is best to gather outdoors and keep gatherings small to allow for physical distancing.
  • Wear a face covering when you are in enclosed public spaces or when unable to maintain 6 feet of distance from others, including outdoors. The face covering protects others by keeping your respiratory droplets contained. This is especially important as you may have the virus without symptoms.
  • Wash your hands frequently or use hand sanitizer if soap and water are not available.
  • Stay home if you are sick.
