I am Heather Barker, and as the director of the Adrian Senior Center, I have heard many say they don't think they have what it takes to improve health through exercise. For those of us not approaching an Olympic level of training, runners buffing past us or treadmills at full speed can be intimidating. But, there is good news: Each of the seven Lenawee County Senior Centers have various fitness opportunities. These classes can include gentle exercise, sitercise, cardio drumming, Zumba, Chair Zumba, and many others. These classes offer not only a local place, but a low cost opportunity.
Having someone to exercise with can build better health and friendships. Rather than meeting for coffee, meet for a class at one of the Department on Aging’s senior centers. You will feel better afterward and the time will pass quickly.
